THE FULL MOON DRUM CIRCLE
If there's a full moon, check out the beach between 79th and 85th Sts - a big, boisterous
drum circle is held here that doubles as a full-moon party. The beat tends to start
between 8:30pm and 9:30pm, and can run well into the wee hours. That said, drinking
(and the consumption of other substances) is technically illegal on the beach, and police
have broken up the event before. Still, it tends to be a pretty fun party that shouldn't be
missed if you're in the area and want to see an incredible moonset. Check
www.miamidrums.com for more information. The drum circle also goes off periodically in
Coconut Grove, in the tropical overgrowth of the Barnacle .
