Getting There & Around
OCTA ( 714-560-6282; www.octa.net ) bus 1 connects Seal Beach with the OC's other beach
towns and LA's Long Beach every hour; the one-way fare is $2 (exact change).
There's two-hour free parking along Main St between downtown Seal Beach and the
pier - if you can snag a spot. Public parking lots by the pier cost $3 per two hours, $6 all
day. Free parking along residential side streets is subject to posted restrictions.
Huntington Beach
With consistently good waves, surf shops, a surf museum, beach bonfires, a canine-
friendly beach and a sprinkling of hotels and restaurants with killer views, HB is an awe-
some place for sun, surf and sand.
Hawaiian-Irish surfing star George Freeth gave demonstrations here in 1914, and the
city has been a surf destination ever since, with the trademarked nickname 'Surf City,
USA' (Santa Cruz lost that fight, sorry). The sport is big business, with a Surfing Walk of
Fame ( www.hsssurf.com/shof ) and test-marketing for surf products and clothing.
