In-Depth Information
You haven't really experienced Santa Monica until you've explored one of its weekly out-
door farmers markets stocked with organic fruits, vegetables, flowers, baked goods and
fresh-shucked oysters.
Bay Cities DELI, ITALIAN
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; www.baycitiesitaliandeli.com ; 1517 Lincoln Blvd; sandwiches $5-9;
9am-7pm Tue-Sat, to 6pm Sun)
Not just the best Italian deli in LA, this is arguably the best deli, period. With sloppy, spicy
godmothers (piled with salami, mortadella, coppacola, ham, prosciutto, provolone, and
pepper salad), house-roasted tri-tip, tangy salads, imported meats, cheeses, breads, oils and
extras. Get your sandwich with the works. And, yes, it's worth the wait.
Milo & Olive ITALIAN
( GOOGLE MAP ;

7am-11pm)
We love it for its small-batch wines, incredible pizzas and terrific breakfasts (creamy
polenta and poached eggs anyone?), breads and pastries, all of which you may enjoy at the
marble bar or shoulder to shoulder with new friends at one of two common tables. It's a
cozy, neighborhoody kind of joint, so it doesn't take reservations.
Bar Pintxo SPANISH
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 310-458-2012; www.barpintxo.com ; 109 Santa Monica Blvd; tapas $4-16,
paella $30; 4-10pm Mon-Wed, to 11pm Thu, to midnight Fri, noon-midnight Sat, to 10pm Sun)
A Barcelona-inspired tapas bar. It's small, it's cramped, it's a bit loud and a lot of fun. Ta-
pas include pork belly braised in duck fat, filet mignon skewers, lamb meatballs and a tre-
mendous seared calamari.
Venice
Wurstkuche GERMAN

2am)
