Ojai is 33 miles east of Santa Barbara via scenic Hwy 150, or 15 miles inland (north) from
Ventura via Hwy 33. On Main St at Ventura Ave in downtown Ventura, catch Gold Coast
Transit ( 805-487-4222; www.goldcoasttransit.org ) bus 16 to downtown Ojai ($1.50, 40
minutes, hourly).

The primary pushing-off point for Channel Island boat trips, the beach town of San
Buenaventura may not look to be the most enchanting coastal city, but it has seaside
charms, especially on the historic pier and downtown along Main St, north of Hwy 101 via
California St.
Sights & Activities
South of Hwy 101 via Harbor Blvd, Ventura Harbor is the main departure point for boats
to Channel Islands National Park.
San Buenaventura State Beach BEACH

Along the waterfront off Hwy 101, this long white-sand beach is ideal for swimming, surf-
ing or just lazing on the sand. A recreational cycling path connects to nearby Emma
Wood State Beach , another popular spot for swimming, surfing and fishing.

Ventura's Spanish-colonial roots go back to this last mission founded by Junípero Serra in
California. A stroll around the mellow parish church leads you through a garden courtyard
and a small museum, past statues of saints, centuries-old religious paintings and unusual
wooden bells.
