Nearly 40 spacious, shady campsites with drinking water and vault toilets circle a forested
meadow near Sand Dollar Beach in southern Big Sur.

Over 30 exposed ocean-view blufftop campsites with drinking water and fire pits cluster
close together, nearly 2 miles south of Limekiln State Park.

On the Big Sur River and shaded by redwoods, cozy housekeeping cabins sport full kit-
chens and fireplaces, while canvas-sided tent cabins are dog-friendly (pet fee $20). The
riverside campground, where neighboring sites have little privacy, is popular with RVs.
There are hot showers, a coin-op laundry, playground and general store.
Ripplewood Resort CABIN

North of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, Ripplewood has struck a blow for fiscal equality by
charging the same rates year-round. Throwback Americana cabins mostly have kitchens
and sometimes even wood-burning fireplaces. Quiet riverside cabins are surrounded by
redwoods, but roadside cabins can be noisy. Wi-fi in restaurant only.
Deetjen's Big Sur Inn LODGE

Nestled among redwoods and wisteria, this creekside conglomeration of rustic, thin-walled
rooms and cottages was built by Norwegian immigrant Helmuth Deetjen in the 1930s.
Some antiques-furnished rooms are warmed by wood-burning fireplaces, while cheaper
ones share bathrooms. This timeless escape isn't for everyone.
