Patterson's Pub
PUB FOOD
If you pull into town late and hungry, you'll thank your lucky stars for this place; it serves
quality pub grub - fish and chips, burgers and dinner salads - with cold beer. The only tra-
ditional Irish pub ambience spoiler is the plethora of flat-screen TVs. A busy brunch is
served on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10am to 2pm.
Café Beaujolais
CALIFORNIAN
$23-35; 11:30am-2:30pm Wed-Sun, dinner from 5:30pm daily)
Mendocino's iconic, beloved country-Cal-French restaurant occupies an 1896 house re-
styled into a monochromatic urban-chic dining room, perfect for holding hands by candle-
light. The refined, inspired cooking draws diners from San Francisco, who make this the
centerpiece of their trip. The locally sourced menu changes with the seasons, but the
Petaluma duck breast served with crispy skin is a gourmand's delight.
Ravens
CALIFORNIAN
breakfast $11-15, mains $24-30; 8-10:30am Mon-Sat, to noon Sun, dinner 5:30-10pm; )
Ravens brings haute-contemporary concepts to a completely vegetarian and vegan menu.
Produce comes from the idyllic organic gardens of the
Stanford Inn
, and the bold menu
takes on everything from sea-palm strudel and portabella sliders to decadent (guilt-free)
desserts.
MacCallum House Restaurant
CALIFORNIAN
$12-18, mains $25-42; 8:15-10am Mon-Fri, to 11am Sat & Sun, 5:30-9pm daily; )
Sit on the veranda or fireside for a romantic dinner of all-organic game, fish or risotto
primavera. Chef Alan Kantor makes
everything
from scratch and his commitment to sus-
tainability and organic ingredients is nearly as visionary as his menu. The cafe menu,
served at the
Grey Whale Bar
, is one of Mendocino's few four-star bargains.
