Dinner and a movie take on new meaning at this vintage-WWII Quonset hut converted to a
cinema in 1950, with a concession stand serving gourmet hot dogs with a drink and chips
for just $7. In 2014 they finally added heating, but still supply blankets. Only in Monte
Rio. Shows nightly (and sometimes Sunday afternoons), but call ahead, especially off-sea-
son.

Hosts live acoustic-only jazz, blues and cabaret nightly in summer (weekends in winter),
and families are welcome because the cabaret doubles as an American-Italian restaurant

Shopping
Eight miles west of Guerneville, tiny Duncans Mills (pop 85) has good shopping in a
handful of side-by-side businesses within weathered 19th-century cottages.
