CUTTING COSTS IN NAPA
To avoid overspending on tasting fees, it's perfectly acceptable to pay for one tasting to
share between two people. Ask in advance if fees are applicable to purchase (they usually
aren't). Tour fees cannot be split. Ask at your hotel, or at visitors centers, for free- or
discounted-tasting coupons, or download from napatouristguide.com. If you can't afford
the hotels, try western Sonoma County, but if you want to be nearer Napa, try the sub-
urban towns of Vallejo and American Canyon, about 20 minutes from downtown Napa.
Both have motels for $75 to $125 in high season. Also find chains 30 minutes away in
Fairfield, off I-80 exits 41 (Pittman Rd) and 45 (Travis Blvd).
Sights
Napa lies between Silverado Trail and St Helena Hwy/Hwy 29. For downtown, exit Hwy
