unfurling around a century-old stone winery that makes Bordeaux-style blends on the val-

Chef-owned Robert Sinskey's dramatic hilltop tasting room, constructed of stone, redwood
and teak, resembles a small cathedral - fitting, given the sacred status here bestowed upon
food and wine. Sinskey specializes in bright-acid organic Pinot, Merlot and Cabernet, and
exceptional Alsatian varietals, Vin Gris, Cabernet Franc and dry Rosé, specifically de-
signed to pair well with food. Tasting fee waived with two-bottle purchase - a rarity. Small
bites accompany tastings. Call about culinary tours. Bottles cost $28 to $100.

Tour buses flock to this corporate-owned winery, but if you know nothing about wine and
can cope with crowds, the worthwhile tours provide excellent insight into winemaking.
