Information
The Sausalito Visitors Center ( GOOGLE MAP ; 415-332-0505; www.sausalito.org ; 780
Bridgeway Blvd; 11:30am-4pm Tue-Sun) has local information. There's also an information
kiosk at the ferry terminal.
Getting There & Away
Driving to Sausalito from San Francisco, take the Alexander Ave exit (the first exit after
the Golden Gate Bridge) and follow the signs into Sausalito. There are five municipal
parking lots in town, and street parking is difficult to find.
Golden Gate Transit ( 415-455-2000; www.goldengatetransit.org ) bus 10 runs daily to
Sausalito from downtown San Francisco ($4.75). On weekends and holidays from late
May through early September, the West Marin Stagecoach ( 415-526-3239;
www.marintransit.org/stage.html ) bus 61 extends to Sausalito and Fort Baker, with six daily
departures for Mt Tamalpais State Park, Stinson Beach and Bolinas.
The ferry is a fun and easy way to travel to Sausalito. Golden Gate Ferry (
415-455-2000; www.goldengateferry.org ; one-way $10.25) operates to and from the San Fran-
cisco Ferry Building six to nine times daily and takes 30 minutes. The Blue & Gold Fleet
( 415-705-8200; www.blueandgoldfleet.com ; Pier 41, Fisherman's Wharf; one-way $11) sails to
Sausalito four to five times daily from the Fisherman's Wharf area in San Francisco. Both
ferries operate year-round and transport bicycles for free.
Tiburon
At the end of a small peninsula pointing out into the center of the bay, Tiburon is blessed
with gorgeous views. The name comes from the Spanish Punta de Tiburon (Shark Point).
Take the ferry from San Francisco, browse the shops on Main St, grab a bite to eat and
you've seen Tiburon. The town is also a jumping-off point for nearby Angel Island.
Sights & Activities
The central part of town is comprised of Tiburon Blvd, with Juanita Lane and charming
Main St arcing off. Main St, which is also known as Ark Row, is where the old houseboats
have taken root on dry land and metamorphosed into classy shops and boutiques.
