Bicycling is safest in Golden Gate Park and along the waterfront, where rentals are readily
available.
CAR
Avoid driving in San Francisco: street parking is rare and meter readers ruthless. Conveni-
ent downtown parking lots are at 5th and Mission Sts, Union Sq, and Sutter and Stockton
Sts. Daily rates run $25 to $50.

MUNI
MUNI (Municipal Transit Agency; www.sfmuni.com ) operates bus, streetcar and cable-
car lines. The standard fare for buses or streetcars is $2, and tickets are good for trans-
fers for 90 minutes; hang onto your ticket to avoid a $100 fine. The cable-car fare is $6
per ride.
MUNI Passport (1-/3-/7-days $14/22/28) allows unlimited travel on all MUNI trans-
port, including cable cars; it's sold at San Francisco Visitor Information Center and
many hotels.
