Imaginations race from ancient Persian miniatures to cutting-edge Japanese architecture
through three floors spanning 6000 years of Asian arts. Besides the largest Asian art col-
lection outside Asia - 18,000 works - the Asian offers excellent programs for all ages,
from shadow-puppet shows and yoga for kids to weeknight Artist's Drawing Club mixers
with crosscultural DJ mashups.

That mighty beaux-arts dome has covered San Francisco's greatest civic ambitions and set-
backs, from marriage equality to McCarthy hearings. Designed in 1915 to outstyle Paris
and outsize the capitol in Washington, DC, the dome was unsteady until its retrofit after
the 1989 earthquake, when ingenious technology enabled it to swing on its base.

The rainbow-robed, 100-strong Glide gospel choir kicks off Sunday celebrations with a
warm welcome for whomever comes through the door. Between celebrations, volunteers
help Glide provide a million free meals a year and housing for formerly homeless families.
Thursdays from 10am to 2pm, volunteers head upstairs to Glide's sunny Graze the Roof
garden, harvesting organic vegetables for its free meals.
