The ritziest of North County's seaside suburbs, with a Tudor aesthetic that somehow
doesn't feel out of place, Del Mar boasts good (if pricey) restaurants, unique galleries,
high-end boutiques and, north of town, the West Coast's most renowned horse-racing
track, also the site of the annual county fair.

Del Mar's biggest draw was founded in 1937 by a prestigious group including Bing
Crosby and Jimmy Durante, and is still worth a visit for its lush gardens and Mediter-
ranean architecture. Go on opening day for the spectacle of ladies wearing over-the-top
hats.
Seagrove Park PARK

At the end of 15th St, this park abuts the beach and overlooks the ocean. Perfect for a pic-
nic.
