In-Depth Information
Gaslamp Quarter
Bang Bang BAR
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; www.bangbangsd.com ; 526 Market St; closed Mon)
Beneath lantern-light, the Gaslamp's hottest new spot hosts local and world-known DJs
and serves sushi and Asian small plates to accompany imaginative cocktails (some in giant
goblets meant for sharing with your posse). Bathrooms are shrines to Ryan Gosling and
Hello Kitty: in a word, awesome.
Fluxx CLUB
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; www.fluxxsd.com ; 500 4th Ave; Thu-Sat)
Think Vegas in the Gaslamp. San Diego's hottest dance club has amazing design with ro-
tating themes (jellyfish and mermaids, anyone?), DJs spinning electronic dance music and
the occasional celeb sighting. Even a crowded dance floor, expensive cocktails ($17 vodka
and Red Bull) and sometimes steep cover charges can't stop this place from being jam-
packed.
Dublin Square IRISH PUB
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; www.dublinsquareirishpub.com ; 544 4th Ave)
Guinness? Check. Corned beef? Check. But what sets this rambling pub apart is its selec-
tion of nightly music. Try to go when the band Fooks is playing - check website for sched-
ule.
Quality Social DIVE BAR
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; www.qualitysocial.com ; 789 6th Ave)
It sounds like an oxymoron: an upscale dive bar. This concrete box has big windows out to
the street, loud music and lots of beers, but you can snack on charcuterie and artisanal
cheeses. Look also for $6 shots and cocktails like 'Not Your Grandma's Gin & Tonic.'
Star Bar BAR
