One of San Diego's most authentic English ale houses, Shakespeare is the place for darts,
soccer by satellite, beer on tap and pub grub, including fish and chips, and bangers and
mash. On weekends, load up with a British breakfast: bacon, mushrooms, black and white
pudding and more. One thing they don't have in Britain: a great sundeck.

This upscale eatery serves Mexican street food that knocked our zapatos off: innovative
takes on traditional tacos like chicken (with hibsicus, chipotle, pineapple and avocado) and
some out-there fillings like potato soy chorizo. Other highlights: crab guacamole, barba-
coa short ribs (braised in chili sauce) and Mexican street bowl, ie tropical fruits with chili,
sea salt and lime.

ships on the harbor. The sit-down Grotto has an old-style nautical theme (ahoy, mateys!),

wiches) that you eat out on the deck.
