county's best campground.
Restaurants around Dana Point Harbor serve straight-off-the-boat seafood. At Dana
Wharf, Turk's ( 949-496-9028; 34683 Golden Lantern St; mains $5-16; 8am-2am, shorter
hours winter) dive bar is so dark it feels like you're drinking while jailed in the brig of a
ship, but never mind. There's plenty of good pub grub (including burgers and fish-and-
chips), Bloody Marys and beers, a mellow crowd and a groovy jukebox.

Stop at this tiny booth at the corner of Golden Lantern St and Dana Point Harbor Dr for
tourist brochures and maps. Gung-ho volunteers sure love their city.
Getting There & Around
From the harbor, Catalina Express ( 800-481-3470; www.catalinaexpress.com ; 34675 Golden
Lantern St; round-trip adult/child 2-11yr/senior $76.50/70/61) makes daily round-trips to
Catalina Island, taking 90 minutes each way.
OCTA ( 714-560-6282; www.octa.net ) bus 1 connects Dana Point with the OC's other
beach towns every 30 to 60 minutes. The one-way fare is $2 (exact change).
Four-hour public parking at the harbor is free, or pay $5 per day (overnight $10).
