determine, for each of the 20 injections, an arrival time for a given pollutant
concentration (identical for all of the injections). The interpolated map of the
iso-time arrival level curves is presented in Figure 13.10. The interval between the
curves is equal to 30 min. In particular, we note that in the lower right part of the
mesh, the injected pollutant never arrives at the pumping well. It is therefore carried
off outside the discretized area.
Such a map allows a water supply company to determine areas at risk of fast
contamination and helps to assess a protection perimeter around a pumping well.
