The first stop occurs in Downtown, Old Havana. If your hotel or housing arrange-
ments are located in Old Havana or Central Havana, you should get off at this
stop. There will be taxis waiting to bring you directly to your destination, although
you will likely be within walking distance of your accommodations.
The second stop will occur about 5 minutes later, when the bus enters the Vedado
neighborhood. The bus will stop near the corner of Calle 27 de Noviembre Street
(close to 29th) and L. This location is directly beside the University of Havana and
just a block away from the Habana Libre hotel. If you are staying in the Vedado
neighborhood, get off at this stop. You will be within easy walking distance of all
the major hotels and most of the casa particulares in Vedado, but you can also
just take a short taxi ride to get to your destination.
Finally, the bus makes its last stop at the main Viazul bus terminal located at
Calle 26 and Zoologico (26th street and the Zoo, right in front of the Havana Zoo).
This is located in the Nuevo Vedado neighborhood, in the far west corner of
Vedado. If you are planning to stay in Nuevo Vedado or at any of the large hotels
located in the western suburbs of Havana (Miramar, Playa), then this is your stop.
Traveling from Havana to the Varadero Airport
If you need to return back to the Varadero Airport for your return flight home, it is
very simple. Once again, just take the Viazul bus. The main Havana Viazul bus
terminal is located at Calle 26 and Zoologico. It is recommend to purchase your
ticket at least two days in advance, as this is an extremely popular route. The cost
to get from Havana to the Varadero Airport is 10 CUC. The schedule is indicated
above. Be aware that if you are going to the airport to catch a flight back home,
you should always arrive at the airport at least 2 hours in advance of your depar-
ture.
Note: There used to be another Viazul bus terminal in Havana, located near the
Plaza de la RevoluciĆ³n. This no longer exists. The only way to catch the Viazul
bus in Havana is at the main terminal (Calle 26 and Zoologico).
The Main Viazul Terminal in Varadero
In the town of Varadero, the main Viazul bus terminal is located at the corner of
Calle 36 and Autopista (the highway). Buses leave from this location to go to
Havana four times per day. They also travel to most other cities in Cuba. The bus
to Havana will always pass by the Varadero airport according to the times posted
in the schedule above. If you are in the town of Varadero and want to take the
Viazul bus from the Varadero terminal to Havana, the fare is 10 CUC and the
route schedule is posted below. This is a very popular bus route, so make sure to
buy your tickets at least a day in advance.
