Internet Access Points
Almost all large hotels will offer computer terminals with internet access or WIFI in-
ternet. The most important thing to remember when using a terminal or WIFI is to
log-out of your internet account at the end of the session. This is especially import-
ant for WIFI users. If you do not log out of the WIFI server, you will continue con-
suming your minutes even after you stop using your computer. Each access point
has a different log-out procedure, so check with the technician on duty before you
log on.
Typical internet speeds in most hotels will be comparable to 3mbs bandwidth rates,
which is reasonably fast, but may not be fast enough for online movie streaming or
VOIP internet-based phone calls.
Below I have listed some of the most popular internet access points in Havana.
The list is ranked from lowest WIFI internet prices to highest. Note, however, that
internet prices have been dropping steadily over the last years, so these rates
might be lower by the time you visit the island.
Hotel Presidente (Corner G and Calzada (7th) - Vedado)
The internet services area is locate in the main lobby, to the right of the reception
desk. There are about half a dozen terminals in good condition. The price to use
the internet is 4.50 CUC per hour regardless if you use a terminal or WIFI. The
WIFI also works speedily in the lobby and on the terrace in front of the hotel. To log
out, you must type 1.1.1.1 in your browser's address bar. WIFI cards expire thirty
(30) days after purchase.
Hotel Nacional (Corner 21 and O - Vedado)
Internet is available at the computer terminals in the business center for the price
of 10 CUC per hour. WIFI access is also available at the cost of 7 CUC per hour or
10 CUC for 2 hours.
Hotel Vedado (O between 23 and 25 - Vedado)
Internet time can be purchased in the business center. The price to use the inter-
net via computer terminal or WIFI is the same - 6 CUC per hour or 3 CUC per half
hour.
Hotel Melia Cohiba (Corner Paseo and 3 - Vedado)
The internet room is located at the back of the lobby, to the left of the reception
desk. There are about a dozen terminals in fair condition. Internet speed feels
slightly slower than at some other locations. The price to use the internet at a com-
puter terminal is 10 CUC per hour. WIFI is also available throughout the lobby and
first floor of the hotel at a price of 14 CUC for 2 hours.
