Also called Chinese green beans, mung beans originated in India, where they're
known as green gram or golden gram; they are used in innumerable ways in that coun-
try. These beans have been cultivated and eaten in Asia, Africa, and Greece for thou-
sands of years.
Like all beans, mung beans are high in protein, vitamins, and minerals, making them a
deliciously nutritious addition to the diet.
