In-Depth Information
in deciding on a certain destination. This information is related to general
publicity, publishing the local tourism products, e-mail booking, online
payment, e-mail enquiry, tourism guide, and the like. Cluster 2 countries
are expected to benefit from their advantageous ICT infrastructure to at-
tract tourists from all over the world.
After the analysis of price competitiveness in the T&T industry, the
results revealed that Cluster 1 countries have a higher score in the extent
and effect of taxation variable (Mean 1 = 3.65; Mean 2 = 3.08; t = 2.262; p
= 0.034) , which makes tourism products cheaper and provides a competi-
tive advantage. Contrary to this finding, Cluster 2 countries bear a disad-
vantage in the fuel price variable (Mean 1 = 89.42; Mean 2 = 144.11; t =
-4.111; p = 0.000) , which makes tourism related products and services
more expensive. These findings are consistent with our previous discus-
sion that Cluster 1 countries have a competitive advantage in price com-
petitiveness in the T&T industry pillar.
T-TEST RESULTS FOR T&T HUMAN, CULTURAL AND NATURAL
RESOURCES SUBINDEX
Analysis results in Table 6 show t-test results for three T&T human, cul-
tural, and natural resources subindex variables. In Table 3, we had ob-
served that concerning four pillars, only affinity for travel and tourism did
not show statistically significant difference between Cluster 1 and Cluster
2 countries. Thus, we included individual variables of the rest of the three
pillars in t-test analysis and portrayed the results in Table 6.
