need at the appropriate times.
Now that you've clarified your mentoring needs, the resources to meet these
needs should be identified ( Table 3.6 ).
So suppose there are no candidates near you to provide mentoring. Don't
despair - you can still achieve your goals through a concept known as Biblio-
therapy. Biblio-therapy is the use of self-help and personal development materi-
als for personal and professional growth. Even if you've been fortunate enough
to have role models and mentors, it can be helpful to develop what I call a
“Biblio-MEntor-Collage.” This BMEC is comprised of three to five key topics
or resources (biblio) that you utilize to provide advice and guidance (mentor)
in a particular area, and you combine these sources into one common resource
(collage) for convenient use ( Table 3.7 ).
