The objective of this topic is to enlighten, empower, and encourage you to
achieve your goals no matter what age or stage you currently find yourself in
from a career or personal perspective. The topics thus far have been designed
to enlighten you to the need and call to us to lead. The focus of this chapter
is to help us understand factors that have impeded the progress of women
for generations and how to overcome these issues in your career. Specifi-
cally, the goal is to gain an understanding of the common factors that women
face when seeking leadership opportunities, particularly in male-dominated
careers such as STEM fields, and understand how you can mitigate the impact
of these factors.
