In-Depth Information
Dear _____________,
I am working toward a goal in my life and I am requesting your support as an accountability
partner in the achievement of my goal. I know that you have many demands on your schedule
and should you be unavailable to support this request, I certainly understand.
I will be respectful of your time as my accountability partner and will take the lead in suggesting
meetings, keeping you updated on my progress.
As my accountability partner, you can expect me to fully commit to my goals and do the things I
have said are required for the attainment of my goals. I ask that you challenge me to reach my
goals, keep on schedule for completion of all action items, and engage in regular meetings with
me. I propose the following as a communication and interaction process.
Initial meeting to discuss my goal(s)
I will send you my personal vision, goals, and plans at least one week prior to our
meeting
Monthly Status meetings (via Skype, phone, or in person as is convenient for you)
I will provide updates to my progress on each goal at least a week prior to our
monthly meeting
Annual goal evaluation
If you are willing to be my accountability partner, I agree to accept your open, honest, and
sincere feedback. I also pledge to uphold my part of this relationship and fully commit to the
attainment of the goals.
Sincerely,
_______________

goals. I would encourage you not to put your mentor in that situation because
it can be hard for him/her to address. I suggest that you instead consider your
mentor a back-up accountability plan in case your initial accountability peer
fails you. Another place to find accountability partners is within professional
organizations. These are great venues for finding like-minded people who will
