impact the life of at least one young woman annually. The form of impact can
be tailored to your condition, environment, or resources, but a commitment
and resulting action is necessary. The impact can be the result of personal
mentoring, donation of finances or resources to organizations supporting the
development of women, creating opportunities within your organization, and
support of professional societies. The point is that women and men must make
this an expected aspect of leadership if we are to see the benefits of gender
equality and a fully engaged female workforce realized. The activities and
importance of this are discussed in more detail in Chapter 7: Women Leaders
Must Support Each Other.
