resistance and challenges almost from the beginning. This does not mean
that you are on the wrong track. Every challenge has a reason, good or bad,
behind it. The way to overcome them is to understand why they have arisen
and use this knowledge to overcome them. A leader is different from her fol-
lowers. It is by being different that you make a difference.
Don't expect to change the world in a day: It won't happen and you will not be
ready for it. Remember that even the smallest changes can have a far-reaching
impact that you may not be able to perceive. As Anita Roddick, founder of The
Body Shop said, “If you think you're too small to have an impact, try going to

Creativity
The difference you make and show is demonstrated by the creativity you dis-
play. This does not mean that you have to be different in everything you do.
Understand how things were done in the past. Those who do not remember his-

Retain your personal touch: Always remember why people accept you as a
leader. It is because of some aspects of your personality that encourages them
to think that you are suitable for the job. It is your personal touch that makes
you stand out among the multitude.
l
Do not become arrogant: At the risk of repeating myself, let me once again
caution you against the biggest pitfall and danger of leadership - arrogance.
Creating your own style of leadership does not mean riding roughshod over
the opinions and feelings of those whom you lead. An individual leadership
style is one that others follow because they like it and want to be a part of it,
not because they have no choice.

Do not overlook your personal well-being: Having said that, it is also essen-
tial to remember how important you are. You are needed. Your cause needs
you. Your family and friends need you. Even YOU need you. Leadership can
