8.26 Multianion analysis
8.26.1 Spectrophotometric method
8.26.1.1 Sulphite, sulphide and sulphate
Bhat et al. [116] have reported a Spectrophotometric method for the determination of low
levels of sulphate (and sulphide and sulphate) in waste waters. The method involves the
reduction of the bis-2,9 dimethyl 1-10-phenanthroline copper(II) ion by sulphite.
8.26.2 Ion chromatography, sulphite, chloride, fluoride, nitrate, nitrite,
phosphate and sulphate
This technique has been applied to the determination of sulphite and chloride [117], also
chloride, fluoride, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate and sulphate [118] in wastewaters.
