Work Permits
According to Cambodian law, foreigners are meant to get work permits.
There are many people, however, who have worked here for years without them and most
aren't even aware that such a thing exists. According to a local law firm, the Ministry of
Labour and Vocational Training is striving to impose compliance, which is mainly done on
avoluntarybasis,andauthoritiesarecrackingdownmoreandmoreonforeignworkerswho
don't have a permit.
In order to get one, you'll need to visit the Ministry office which is located at #3, Russian
FederationBoulevardinPhnomPenhtoobtainapplicationsforms(takeyourpassport,Cam-
bodian visa, and two passport-sized photos and a $100 fee). They also request an “employ-
ment contract in Khmer” and a health check at the health department. They do not presently
