In-Depth Information
When you arrive, go to the Visa On Arrival desk, where your application will be reviewed
and you will receive a visa within minutes. It's one of the simplest and easiest processes
I've found anywhere.
Theonlyproblemwiththee-Visa,however,isthatitonlyoperatesasatouristvisa,sobusi-
ness travellers who need to stay longer or need a multiple entry visa will have to apply for
a Cambodian business visa through the conventional channels at the airport on arrival.
A Cambodian tourist visa costs $20 for a 30 day visit ($5 more if you do it online) and
does not allow for multiple entries. You can extend it for a further 30 days through a travel
agency or the Immigration Department (on the road to the airport) at a cost of $15. Over-
staying your visa will cost you a hefty $5 per day.
When your visa is getting close to expiration, it's time for a “visa run”— which is also a
good excuse for a holiday to another country. All you need do is cross a border (even a
bus trip to Vietnam or Thailand is fine), then turn around and come back into Cambodia so
you can get another visa. There are a number of scams where border officials, drivers, and
“guides” will insist you need their help or need to pay a fee. If you brush them off politely
