certain times during the healing period. After ten days newly formed woven bone
can be seen adjacent to the periosteum, while the remainder of the callus area is
characterized by moderate to high densities of cartilage and connective tissues. The
reconstitution of blood vessels can be observed in the endosteal callus region and
in the vicinity of the periosteum. At the twentieth day the bridging of the fracture
gap is already nearly completed. Soft tissues remain only in the interfragmental area
