S TABILIZATION AND M ODIFICATION OF
P OLYETHYLENETEREPHTHALATE
Polyethyleneterephthalate (PETP) is widely used in industry as fibres and films. PETP
belongs to thermoplastic ethers and is a product of polycondensation of ethylene glycol and
dimethylterephthalic acids [186].
Polyethyleneterephthalate is produced by two stages: interesterification of
dimethylterephthalate by ethylene glycol takes place at the first stage:
polycondensation, which flows with ethylene glycol splitting out, distilled off under
vacuum [187] takes place at the seconds stage.
PETP molecule has two characteristic features. First - it is regularity of phenylene groups
