In-Depth Information
Unfortunately Harlem was struck rather significantly by poverty and crime as a result of
the Great Depression and World War Two. The late 20th century saw social and economic
improvement gradually sweep across the area. More than 400 churches call Harlem home,
which ensures that it is a deeply faith infused community.
Today Harlem is undergoing yet another transformation, but this time related to gourmet
delights. New restaurants open up often, offering incredible selections unlike any you'll
find anywhere else in the city.
With many museums and other points of interest, it is well-worth a visit to this revitalized
part of New York City.
