There are a growing number of organizations devoted to producing OSH for science. One
collaboration of scientists, hackers and artists to combine their expertises, share instructions on
how to work with life science technologies, and cooperate on the organization of workshops,
temporary labs, hack-sprints and meetings. It was started in 2009 by Andy Gracie, Marc Dus-
seiller and Yashas Shety. What has developed is a rich wiki-based web resource for people
interested in or developing projects that involve bioart, open-source software/hardware, DIY
biology, art/science collaborations and electronic experimentation. For a feel of how Hackteria
