Gay and Lesbian Networking
The gay and lesbian communities in Paris are among the most
accepted in Europe. The French government has passed the
Pacte Civil de Solidarité, commonly known as PACS, a 'contract
of social union' that gives unmarried cohabiting couples—
straight or gay—the same financial rights as married couples.
There are also scores of gay-friendly hotels, restaurants bars,
discotheques and shops. Every year, Paris hosts the largest
Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Trans March on the continent. For some gay
venues, see pages 247-248.
