In-Depth Information
(Thai) 20 e : Royal Bangkok; 4 rue du Cher;
tel: 01.46.36.46.24). Perhaps off the beaten track, but
authentic Thai specialties at reasonable prices. Worth
making the trip.
(Vietnamese) 5 e : Kim Lien; 33 place Maubert;
tel: 01.43.54.68.13. It's hard to choose among the many
good Vietnamese establishments in Paris, but this one has
a wide selection of dishes, well-prepared and interesting.
And of course, now there's sushi all around Paris, fresh
and delicious. My favourites:
1 er : Kinugawa; 9 rue du Mont Thabor; tel. 01.42.60.65.07.
Expensive but first-class sushi in an upmarket setting.
Generally crowded, so reserve in advance. Also at 4 rue
St-Philippe-du-Roule, 75008; tel: 01.45.63.08.07. Closed
on Sundays.
6 e : Tsukizi; 2bis rue des Ciseaux; tel: 01.43.54.65.19. A
tiny sushi bar in a short, narrow street. A few tables, a
small counter, but delectable sushi. Reserve in advance.
Closed on Sundays.
11 e : Sukiyaki; 12 rue de la Roquette; tel: 01.49.23.04.98.
Excellent sushi and other Japanese selections in a popular
local restaurant near the Bastille.
16 e : Matsuri; 2-4 rue de Passy; tel: 01.42.24.96.85;
website:http://www.matsuri.fr. Good sushi on a conveyor
belt allows you to have a fast lunch and choose only the
dishes you wish. Reasonable prices. Two other addresses,
home delivery also available.
Vegetarian Restaurants
Given the French reliance on meats, cream sauces and
butter, it used to be difficult to find vegetarian, much less
vegan, restaurants in Paris. This is no longer true and
many restaurants will put together a platter of vegetables
on request. Vegetarian fare is standard at Asian and Indian
restaurants, and meatless dishes are common at Italian and
cacher (kosher) restaurants as well.
5 e : Les Cinq Saveurs d'Anada; 72 rue du Cardinal-Lemoine;
tel: 01.43.29.58.54.
