Parks, Playgrounds and Zoos
Paris has more than 400 parks and gardens. Both the Bois
de Boulogne to the west and Bois de Vincennes to the east
have extensive areas of interest for children. Almost all
the parks have varied amusements for children, including
playgrounds, go-karts, pony rides or carousels. Most parks are
open during daylight hours only. A few of the better-equipped
and interesting parks are: Jardin du Luxembourg, Parc des
Buttes-Chaumont, Parc André Citroën, Parc Montsouris and
Jardin Atlantique.
Some 388 aires de jeux (playgrounds) can be found
throughout the city; most have large sand pits where the
sand is changed frequently enough to be kept clean. Some
