You know what's funny? I ended up owing money on every single apartment I
lived in at the Chelsea. And Stanley never said anything about it. I moved in and
out of the Chelsea several times, and each apartment I moved into was smaller
than the previous one. The last place I lived in was like a shoebox, one of these
rooms where you shared a bathroom down the hall. When I had no money and
nothing left, that's the room that Stanley finally decided to come down on me
with.

friends, and I would see Stanley in the lobby looking up to see who was coming
in. I could see the wheels turning in his mind as he desperately sized up the data
