In-Depth Information
According to Dee Dee, everyone was always screwing him over Somebody had
always betrayed him or done him wrong.
His suffering no doubt led to his heroin addiction, which ultimately took his life. Campbell
swears it must have been suicide.
ROBERT CAMPBELL
DeeDeehadbeendoingheroinallofhislife,sincehewasthirteen.Whenyou're
that experienced with heroin, you know exactly how much you're taking. You
know what's not enough, what's too much, and what's just right. An experienced
heroin user rarely overdoses, and the only explanation I can think of is Dee Dee
wanted to die.
TIM SULLIVAN
I do believe he wanted to die. He had a lot of pain, and it was obvious. And in
West Hollywood, where he was, there's a lot of heroin. I was always lucky and
smart enough to stay away from that kind of stuff. I saw what it did to other
people, and said, “I don't want any part of it.” It destroys your soul.
