Don't miss
In 2012, the National Trust premiered Ickworth Lives — a living history depicting the
people who lived and worked below stairs at the estate. The exhibit is housed in the base-
ment of the Rotunda, restored to a 1910-era kitchen, servants quarters, cellars, and house-
keeper's room.
Ickworth boasts Britain's best collection of Georgian silver…over 700,000 pieces! Ick-
worth's Rotunda is also home to the Estate's extensive art collection.
The Estate has a large Italianate garden, incorporating a wonderful Temple Rose Garden. A
unique garden feature at Ickworth is the Victorian stumpery (think “rock garden” but with
plantings climbing over tree stumps and fallen logs). The surrounding 1,800 acres of park-
land and fields afford visitors wonderful views in almost every direction.
Site specific
Ickworth is located in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, about 30 miles east of Cambridge.
