Don't miss
Wimpole Hall is the largest house in Cambridgeshire, so there's a lot to see on the site.
Highlights include the Soane Stairs (and the basements below) along with Sir John
Soane's opulent Yellow Drawing Room, the setting for a reception held for Queen Victor-
ia. Wimpole's library displays a collection of more than 10,000 books.
The grounds of the 3,000-acre estate are extensive. Be sure to explore the walled garden,
admire the view created by a series of lakes, and look for Wimpole's folly, built in the late
1700s to mimic a ruined Gothic tower. John Soane also commissioned the estate's 18 th
century farm buildings including the grand threshing barn, stables, and yellow-brick dairy.
