Don't miss
It is unusual for an estate to retain original furnishings, but Erddig still contains items ori-
ginally purchased by John Mellor in the 1720s, including furniture made in London, wall-
paper and textiles. Erddig's mechanical systems were state-of-the-art when installed and
the house contains the oldest known Haden warm air stove heating system, made in 1826.
Be sure to glance at the group photos of Erddig's 1912 staff, each holding the tools of their
trade. There are stable, joinery, smithy and sawmill buildings on the site.
Erddig has interesting formal gardens and parkland and the estate hosts the National Ivy
collection. Another highlight on the grounds is Eames' 1774 Cup and Saucer waterfall.
Site specific
Erddig is located Wrexham, Wales, about 40 miles south of Liverpool, England.
