The Clive Museum, which houses the collected Indian sub-continent treasures of Robert
Clive, the British conqueror of India. Powis also houses a 15

century
book of hours
illu-
minated manuscript. Another historical treasure here is a State Coach used for King Ed-
ward VII's coronation.
The dancing figures on the terrace are original 17
th
century lead statuary. The gardens at
Powis are baroque; noteworthy since most great estate gardens were redesigned in other
styles. Walk through the rhododendrons to discover the icehouse, the family pet cemetery,
and unique sculptures hiding in the trees. Keep an eye out for Powis' peacocks wandering
the grounds.
