In-Depth Information
try estates, Combe House offers an idyllic Elizabethan manor overlooking 3,500 acres of
wooded valleys, rolling hills, and a view of Dartmoor on the horizon.
Beautiful Arabian horses roam the fields as you approach Combe House along a mile of
winding drive. The property offers a lovely choice of settings for ceremonies and recep-
tions, with mature gardens, antique furnishings, a grand staircase and candlelit rooms. The
Great Hall is an atmospheric setting for civil ceremonies with its oak paneling, 18 th cen-
tury portraits, and enormous fireplace. Smaller rooms are also available, each with distinct
décor and views. A church ceremony can be arranged at the medieval Church of St. Mi-
chaels in the nearby village of Gittishham — a place so charming, HRH Prince Charles
once described it as the “Ideal English Village.”
The exterior of Combe House is principally Elizabethan, featuring storybook gables, fini-
als and transom windows, with a broad oak door through which visitors are warmly wel-
comed. The elegant Great Hall is an example of the Caroline Grandeur of the 1600s and is
the essence of an English country house.
In addition to the public areas of Combe House, the hotel offers 16 elegant bedrooms.
Tucked away in the woods with its own private walled garden, Combe's Thatch Cottage is
available to use as a wedding night suite.
Combe House Hotel and Restaurant offers wedding planning, consultation and a full
range of services, and it is available for your exclusive use. It is the perfect luxury country
house venue for the most romantic and intimate wedding ceremonies and celebrations.
