5(a) and (b) show two examples in which the multi-passive-combiner hubs realize non-
uniform channel allocation. In these examples, the multi-passive-combiner hubs use the same
number of channels as the AWG hub shown in Figure 3 but they can better utilize these
channels for non-uniform traffic.
