proTeOn and proTeOff phenotype. Mean GFP expression and expression distribution as analyzed by flow cytometry. (A) Cells
expressing PROTEON were induced with 0, 10, and 200 ng/ml aTc. With 10 and 200 ng/ml aTc, proTeOn up-regulates GFP
six-fold 1 hour post induction. Steady-state expression is achieved by 5 hours and 10 hours with 10 and 200 ng/ml
respectively, and maintained through 20 hours. Maximum overexpression is 10- and 20-fold above uninduced controls with
10 and 200 ng/ml respectively. (B) In the absence of aTc, cells expressing PROTEOFF up-regulate GFP expression. With 10
and 200 ng/ml aTc, expression is reduced to half that of the untreated samples by 1 hour. Steady-state expression is
reached by 5 hours with both 10 and 200 ng/ml and maintained through 20 hours post-treatment. Maximum expression
with 0 ng/ml aTc is up to 10-fold above the aTc-treated samples.
THE SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY SOFTWARE SUITE
SynBioSS is a software package that endows researchers with the ability to easily and quickly
model and simulate the behavior of both naturally occurring and synthetic biological
systems, circumventing the need for previous coding experience. It is publicly available at
http://synbioss.sourceforge.net/ and consists of three main parts: (1) the SynBioSS Wiki;
