ECONOMICAL FLYING
In summer, savvy locals save money by flying in/out of Ivalo, Finland. From late
June to mid-August, a daily bus (Nkr250, 4½ hours) of Lapin Linjat
( www.eskelisen-lapinlinjat.com ) runs the 250km between Kirkenes and Ivalo town
and airport.
Getting There & Away
From Kirkenes airport ( 78 97 35 20) , there are direct flights to Oslo (SAS and Nor-
wegian) and Tromsø (Widerøe).
Kirkenes is the terminus of the Hurtigruten coastal ferry, which heads southwards again at
12.45pm daily. A bus (Nkr85) meets the boat and runs into town and on to the airport.

hours) and many points in between.
