Getting There & Away
Air FromtheHarstad-NarvikairportatEvenestherearedirectflightstoOslo,Bodø,Trom-
sø and Trondheim.
Boat Ifyou'reheadingforTromsø,theeasiest andmostscenic optionisbyboat.Thereare
two to four express passenger ferries daily between Harstad and Tromsø (three hours), via
Finnsnes (1¾ hours).
There's also a seasonal express passenger ferry ( www.senjafergene.no ) between Stornes,
just north of Harstad and Skrolsvik (Nkr134; 1¼ hours; two to three daily mid-May to
August),atthesouthernendofSenjaisland.There,you'llfindbusconnectionstoFinnsnes
and then on to Tromsø. Harstad is also a stop on the Hurtigruten coastal ferry.
Bus Buses to/from Sortland (2½ hours) run one to three times daily. There's one bus to/
from Narvik via Harstad-Narvik airport (2½ hours; daily except Saturday) and a daily ser-
vice between Harstad and Fauske (5¾ hours).
Getting Around
Flybussen (Nkr150, 50 minutes) shuttlesbetweenthetowncentreandEvenesairportsev-
eral times daily.
Buses connect Trondenes with the central bus station approximately hourly, Monday to
Saturday.
Parking may not be easy to find but - God bless the good burghers of Harstad - it's free in
public car parks for vehicles with non-Norwegian licence plates.
