In-Depth Information
Nordal Turistsenter HOTEL & CAMPGROUND €€
( 61 21 93 00; www.nordalturistsenter.no ; tent sites Nkr185-315, s/d/f Nkr940/1280/
1560; closed mid-Dec-late Mar) A busy, rambling place in the centre of town, the
Nordal Turistsenter has something for everyone, with comfy rooms, self-catering cabins
and a campsite at the water's edge. It also has a cosy pub and a casual cafeteria-style res-
taurant that serves simple meals (light meals from Nkr75).
Fossberg Hotell HOTEL €€
( 61 21 22 50; www.fossberg.no ; s/d Nkr890/1340; 8am-10pm Mon-Sat,
10am-10pm Sun) Although not in the same league as the Fossheim Turisthotell, this is
nonetheless an appealing place in the centre of town. The pine-clad rooms are tidy and
pleasant and there's a gymnasium for guests. It also has a range of cabins and apartments,
and a popular cafeteria where the food is nothing to write home about, but the outdoor
tablesareapleasantplacetodoso.Havingtopayforwireless(perone/six/24hoursNkr30/

Kyba - Kafe Isbar CAFE €€
(light meals & mains Nkr65-155; 11am-10pm mid-Jun-mid-Aug, shorter hr rest
of yr) Also in the centre of town, this informal cafe is probably the best place in Lom to
eat outside the Fossheim Turisthotell. Aside from the usual snacks and fast-food choices,
it does a small selection of traditional Norwegian dishes, such as sour-cream porridge and
smoked roasted reindeer meat, for extremely reasonable prices (Nkr85 to Nkr155). Anoth-
er big selling point is its elevated terrace with fine views.
Shopping
In addition to the gems and jewellery for sale at the Fossheim Steinsenter shop, the
small Brimi Bue ( www.brimibue.no , in Norwegian; 10am-8pm mid-Jun-mid-Aug,
10am-4pm May-mid-Jun & mid-Aug-Sep) ,nexttotheFossheimTuristhotell,hascook-
books, organic foods and kitchenware inspired by master-chef Arne Brimi.
