Røros Museum Offline map Google map (Røros Museet; www.rorosmuseet.no ) ,
a catch-all name for most of the village's museums, and it works out cheaper to buy a
combined ticket (adult/child/student & senior Nkr110/free/80) if you plan to visit
both sites.
In addition to the main museum website, www.worldheritageroros.no is an ex-
cellent resource on Røros' historical sites.

building was reconstructed in 1988 according to the original 17th-century plan. Upstairs
you'll find geological and conservation displays, while downstairs are a large balance used
for weighing ore, some well-illustrated early mining statistics, and brilliant working mod-

Outside the museum entrance spreads the large open area known as the Malmplassen
Offline map (Ore Place), where loads of ore were dumped and weighed on the large
woodenscale.Justacrossthestreamfromthemuseumaretheprotected slegghaugan (slag
heaps), from which there are lovely views over town. Off the southwestern corner of the
slag heaps, the historic smelting district with its tiny turf-roofed miners' cottages , partic-
ularly along Sleggveien, is one of Røros' prettiest corners.
