The ski-jump chairlift (adult or child one-way Nkr30, adult/child return Nkr50/45;
9am-7pm mid-Jun-mid-Aug, shorter hr late May-mid-Jun & mid-Aug-Sep) as-
cends to a stunning panoramic view over the town. Alternatively, for those undaunted by
the 952 steps, walk up for free. The chairlift price includes entry to the Lygårdsbakkene
ski-jump tower (adult/child Nkr20/15;
same hr) . Here you can stand atop the ramp
and imagine the pre-jump nerves.
At the base ofthe chairlift, there'san Olympic Bobsled Simulator Offline map (adult/
child per 5 min Nkr60/50;
same hr) and a Bungee Trampoline Offline map (per 10
min Nkr50) .
A combined ticket (adult/child Nkr95/75) is also available for the chairlift, tower and
simulator.
If you want to try your hand at ski-jump training , four/eight hours costs Nkr230/180.
It's not the sort of thing for amateurs…
To reach the summit by car, take the road that leads past the Olympic Museum north out
of town. The turn-off (signed as 'Lygårdsbakkene') comes after 2.8km.

excellent Olympic museum is at the Håkons Hall ice-hockey venue. On the ground floor
there is a well-presented display covering the ancient Olympic Games as well as all of the
Olympic Games of the modern era, with a focus on the exploits of Norwegian athletes as
well as the Lillehammer games. The exhibition is, of course, updated every two years.
Upstairs, you can look down upon the ice-hockey arena, which is circled by corridors
with displays and video presentations from the Lillehammer games.

pansive, open-air Maihaugen Folk Museum. Rebuilt like a small village, the collection
of around 180 buildings includes the transplanted Garmo stave church, traditional Gud-
brandsdalen homes and shops, a postal museum and 27 buildings from the farm Bjørnstad.
The three main sections encompass rural and town architecture, with a further section on
20th-century architecture. The life's work of local dentist Anders Sandvig, the museum
